Wayne is the ballet master at Ballet Conservatory of Asheville (BCA), a new ballet studio in Asheville, NC. Wayne joins forces with Angie Lynn, a graduate of the prestigious Arts Educational School in London, England and a former professional dancer with numerous European companies, including the Vienna Festival Ballet. Most recently, Angie headed the dance program at the Asheville Arts Center. The new studio should be up and running by the first week in September.
The Children's Division -- which Angie will direct -- will provide ballet instruction for dancers ages 3 and up. The Pre-Professional Division -- which Wayne will head-up -- will provide high quality, intense ballet instruction for dancers looking to gain acceptance to summer schools, colleges, or other pre-professional ballet programs. Angie and Wayne will teach in both divisions.
For the 2009-2010 season, BCA will stage The Nutcracker in December 2009 and the most fabulous romantic ballet of all time -- Giselle -- during the Spring of 2010. Dancers who would like to be a member of the Senior Company must pass an audition, be recommended by Angie Lynn and Wayne Burritt, take at least three ballet classes per week, and attend Saturday rehearsals. Only one of a Senior Company dancer's three classes need to be taken at BCA. All shows will have set rehearsal schedules, but you can plan on most Saturday afternoons and some Sunday afternoons being taken up by rehearsal.
BCA's Senior Company program isn't easy and it's not for everyone. But if you're up to it, we'd love to talk to you.
